Amoud Foundation Donates to IQRA Geb Boarding School Project

  Amoud Foundation donated $20,000.00 toward the Geb Boarding School Project being built by IQRA/READ. At a gathering of the Awdal community in Dallas , Texas , USA , on February 20, 2010, Dr. Ali Bahar, Vice Chairman of the Geb Project Committee, accepted a check for that amount. He thanked Amoud Foundation for the donation.

  Dr. Ali Bahar made a presentation about the history of the project, the efforts that went into it, and its current status. He stated that the idea for the Geb Boarding School Project was conceived in the fall of 2008 by a group of Awdalites. The numerous elementary and middle schools dotting the rural areas of Awdal and Gabiley produce graduates every year. Many of these students are from nomadic families in rural areas. There are no boarding secondary schools for these students. Many have to stop their education at the middle school level and go back to their nomadic way of life. The Geb Secondary School Project is intended to fill this need and give these students the opportunity to continue their education.  

  Amoud Foundation Board Members spoke about the significance of the Geb project and the need for all members of the community to support it.
