Amoud Foundation Relief Efforts for the People of Mogadishu

As the world turns; as people around the world go about their daily routines; and as people in the Diaspora enjoy the creature comforts at their disposal, the people of Mogadishu who have been displaced by the current fighting continue to die in the bushes for lack of food, water, and medical care.

Amoud Foundation has raised and sent over $20,000.00 for food, water, and shelter for the displaced people of Mogadishu since the current violence started in December 2006. This has been made possible by generous donations from the Muslim community of North Texas, members of Masjid Abubakar of Rochester, Minnesota, and the Islamic Society of Central New York in Syracuse, New York. We thank these communities for their generosity.

While it has become increasingly difficult for relief agencies to reach the victims of the war, Amoud Foundation has been fortunate to collaborate with Dr. Hawo Abdi and her staff in Afgoi to deliver much-needed relief supplies. Dr. Hawo, her daughter, Dr. Amina Adan, and their staff run a hospital for the needy in Afgoi where they have been caring for thousands of people who have taken refuge in and around the hospital and the surrounding areas.

Amoud Foundation and the institutions named above continue to raise funds for the people of Mogadishu. We urge people to actively participate in this noble humanitarian cause. Amoud Foundation honors the wishes of its donors by using each donation only for the purpose for which it has been designated by the donor.
