REPUBLIC OF SOMALILAND BORAMA REGIONAL HOSPITAL
Ref: BGH/Bor/486/04 02/10/2004 TO: AMOUD FOUNDATION IN DALLAS Here, I would like to introduce brief background of our Hospital. Since the civil war of 1990 most of the Somalis hospitals have been destroyed. The hospitals equipment have either been destroyed or looted. Medical professionals fled to other countries or private sectors. These ruinous Somali civil war collapsed the Somali’s Health Care System. With the help of some international agencies have been rehabilitated/re-established Borama General Hospital. Borama Hospital is second largest hospital in Somaliland and presently working as a referral hospital. The hospital is in adequately equipped and can’t meet to emergencies. Even though there is only one hospital in Borama.

The current functions of the BRH are in better condition followed by contribution and assistance received various sources. The most important contributors are AWDAL COMMUNITY IN DIASPORA and AWDAL LOCAL COMMUNITY. In addition, faculty of medicine and surgery trainees in Amoud University are also using as a teaching hospital on practical case management. Thus, hospital investment is highly appreciated to serve adequately both beneficiaries and medical students as well. Fortunately Amoud foundation recently donated a various medical materials improving quality services of the Borama hospital, including stereoscopes etc. Amoud foundation is the most accountable organization that plays an important role in overall development of the region. The foundation particularly donated to Borama Regional Hospital (Amoud teaching Hospital) funds to use the most urgent needs of the Hospital (X-ray machine and Electric Machine).

Furthermore, Amoud foundation implemented number of historical events, including: ± Invitation to Dr. Nimco to visit abroad in order to deliver to Awdal community in Diaspora the real picture of Borama Regional Hospital and Its quality services. ± Amoud foundations role in participating community development health needs. ± Respectful certificate from Amoud Foundation to the volunteers health professionals (Awdal achievement Award- Borama Regional Hospital). ± Organizational affinity to understand overall damage to its beneficiaries.
