The Awdal region of Somalia is inhabited
by more than one million people. The entire region has no medical
facility with modern medical equipment and supplies. As a result
people, especially women and children, continue to die of very
basic, preventable and/or treatable diseases such as TB, viral and
bacterial infections, and malaria. AL-Hayatt Hospital is a project
designed to fill this void and save lives.
Objective
Amoud
Foundation plans to build Al-Hayatt Hospital in the city of Borama,
capital of this vast region in war-torn Somalia. The project is
scheduled for completion by January 2007. This medical facility will
save thousands of lives who would otherwise have succumbed to very
basic, treatable diseases.
