Mission
Statement
Amoud
Foundation of Irving, Texas, a 501 c (3) charitable organization,
was formed in 1998 by concerned Somali Americans in the Dallas-Fort
Worth area to provide humanitarian assistance to war-torn societies
in the Horn of Africa, and also take part in charitable activities
here at home. The foundation’s work in the Horn of Africa is to
help local communities in the fields of basic healthcare, education
and the resettlement and rehabilitation of internally displaced
women and children. The foundation’s goal is to build and help
maintain shelters, orphanages, clinics and schools with an emphasis
on helping people help themselves by enabling them to resettle and
reintegrate into the society. Amoud Foundation is run by a group of
dedicated volunteers who donate a few hours a week from their busy
schedules for this noble cause. The foundation has no fixed overhead
expenses, and no operating expenses other than nominal amounts spent
on its fundraising activities. The foundation is , therefore, able
to use almost 100% of donations for charitable projects.
Acknowledging
that they are united by common interest based on shared values, the
Amoud Foundation board and management pledge to work as one towards
the common goal of improving the welfare of people in need, both
domestically and internationally, and carry out the foundation’s
mission to the best of their abilities while maintaining utmost
respect for and recognition of their individual opinions and rights.
